From October 15-17, 2026, historic Deadwood welcomes some of the nation’s most accomplished songwriters for three days of unforgettable performances, intimate writer’s rounds, and behind-the-scenes stories from the creators of some of country music’s biggest hits. The festival features free performances from songwriters who have written or co-written songs for artists including Keith Urban, Miranda Lambert, Dierks Bentley, Reba McEntire, Kenny Chesney, Garth Brooks, and many more.
Recognized as one of the best songwriter festivals in the country, this unique event gives fans an opportunity to experience live music in an entirely different way. Instead of huge arenas and distant stages, you’ll enjoy up-close performances where songwriters share the inspiration, stories, and experiences behind the songs you know and love.
The Wild West Songwriters Festival takes place throughout historic Deadwood, making it the perfect excuse for a fall getaway in the Black Hills.
